Box Bot

Project Summary

A non-tethered robotic system designed to lift and transport cardboard boxes of various sizes and weights.

People often need to move boxes around in both professional and non-professional settings, which can lead to injuries due to poor lifting technique. Our goal for the Box Bot is to design and bring to life a motorized robot that can lift boxes from the ground and transport them to various locations.

The system will reduce physical strains, prevent injuries, and automate tasks. Some of the potential applications of this system include warehouses where heavy boxes need to be moved, as well as at Olin, such as retrieving boxes from the loading dock to the mailroom.

BoxBot Final Product

Final assembly featuring integrated vision and lift systems.

Project Demonstration

Sequence of BoxBot driving, squeezing the box, lifting the box, and setting down the box.
